The Software Incubation and Innovations Unit (SIIU) was founded in 2013 with a mandate to:
- Develop software for Mbarara University of Science and Technology (in-house)
- Develop commercial software for the general market
- Nurture software innovations in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics
The SIIU has had tremendous success developing software for Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). These include:
- The Student Academic Records Management System (SARMS)
- The University Timetabling System
- The University Asset Management System
- The University Staff ID generation System
- The Academic Registrar Curriculum tracking system
The SIIU is the organizer of the Annual FCI Innovations Awards where best student innovations are recognized and awarded.
